Challenge

A global pharmaceutical business recognised that digital transformation would be a critical component in order to achieve its goals for 2030 and beyond. This was not how they were used to operating!

What we did

Initially we worked with their global digital teams and senior external consulting leads to shape the transformation vision and strategy.  From this, we were able to support and activate a number of streams that combined to:

  • Evaluate and measure the current attitudes to digital transformation
  • Build their internal talent interest and openness to AI and transformation
  • Initiate a number of pilot AI projects
  • Develop their innovation advocacy program
  • Shape and implement AI governance to maximise impact
  • Provide external stimulation to engage and inspire teams with the possibilities that AI and digital bring

Results

The digital transformation program is now underway, covering all the elements necessary to enable and empower the organisation’s progress towards its through digital and AI innovation transformation vision .  Workstreams are actively delivering against each key objective, tracked by a Scorecard, which records progress towards the overall Transformation vision.

Key Takeaways

For transformation to become sustainable and impactful, efforts must be made to ensure the entire organisation understands the changes needed, feels positive about these changes, empowered to participate, and recognised for their efforts.  And this must all be done while managing an oversight model to ensure risks are managed appropriately, and efforts to scale are made where the rewards are greatest.
